Will my leg tattoo be ruined by my next big bike crash?

I'm thinking about getting a moderately large tattoo on my thigh. what I'm worried about is that I have a thing for mountain biking and my legs can get banged up. If I get a cut on my leg where the tattoo is, will the ink stay in?
